Bees swarm hot dog stand in Times Square

How many bees is too many bees? I am not 100 percent sure, but there sure were a lot of bees on this hot dog stand in Times Square.

Twitter was abuzz with bee chatter on Tuesday after an enormous number of bees overtook a Sabrett’s umbrella on 43rd Street in Manhattan. According to an expert cited by Gothamist, the bees were probably “expats from a nearby beehive” who decided to park close to home and wait for their queen. Very feminist!

After news of the bees spread throughout the city’s media hive mind, the New York Police Department roped off part of the street, then began to suck the bees up with a special bee vacuum. (In fact, the NYPD has long retained a bee cop.) Read more…
