A moment if you will…away from everything else.
Sometimes I wonder how I got here. If I had to be honest, I would say that none of it was intentional. And if I had to be fully transparent, there were many throughout my life who believed I wouldn’t amount to much. There was a time when I believed them. I let it define me. The truth is that I still think about it from time to time.
Am I supposed to be here?
How do I earn the right to stay here?
I’m not sure when or where or how, but something clicked along the way. I should say that it’s still clicking.
I realize that none of this is easy nor is it meant to be. I still struggle like anyone else. I still fight to stay relevant in an ever-increasing sea of really smart people. I still wonder if I’m on the right path.
Therein lies the magic and maybe even an important secret kept in plain sight.
This.is.it.
This is where you’re supposed to find joy. This is where you’re supposed to discover meaning.
You’re supposed to be here.
Now what…?
I’m learning to be more intentional, mindful and thankful.
Each time before I publish my work or before I walk on stage, I no longer ask myself, am I supposed to be here. I am here.
I take a moment to breathe, to appreciate the moment, and to remind myself, “this is what I worked for my whole life…this moment, right now.”
No matter the ups and downs, the successes, stumbles and failures, life can be a yo-yo on an escalator if you find your purpose, focus and never give up. Just make sure to not lose touch with yourself, what and who makes you happy and how you can make the world a little brighter for everyone else.
Be the moment. Be the light.
